The Employment Counseling & Training practice group is cognizant of the unique needs and timing requirements involved in many employment law questions. The attorneys are committed to providing timely and practical responses to meet client needs. We provide counseling and risk reduction strategies for all aspects of the employment relationship of our clients, including counseling and training regarding pre-employment issues such as employee recruitment, employment applications, permissible hiring and pre-employment inquiries, affirmative action plans, offer letters and employment contracts, pre-employment medical examinations and drug screenings. We also provide preventive counseling to address issues during employment, including providing counseling concerning personnel issues, drafting employee handbooks and policies, assisting in employer audits and workplace investigations, and developing counseling and training programs to assist employers in preventing sexual harassment and violence in the workplace, complying with wage and hour laws and affirmative action requirements, administering performance appraisals and appropriate documentation of personnel files, accommodating disabled employees, record retention requirements and drafting appropriate policies and procedures to address the relationship between the ADA, FMLA and worker’s compensation laws.
