Experienced Idaho Attorneys

Givens Pursley LLP is a premier business law firm based in Idaho

We Miss Ken Pursley

It is with profound sadness that the lawyers and staff at Givens Pursley report that founding partner Ken Pursley died October 21, 2015 when the small passenger vessel on which he was riding capsized in an Amazon tributary in Brazil. Ken was there pursuing two of his passions: fly fishing and adventure travel.

Kenneth L. Pursley was 75. Surviving him are his wife, Elizabeth; children Sara, Ben, and Sean; and siblings Ted, John, Jan and Karla.

Ken was a graduate of Cornell University and the University of Chicago Law School. He was born and raised in Sandpoint, Idaho and had lived in Boise since 1970. He founded this firm in 1977. While he had retired in 2005, he still was a presence at the firm and was a close friend to many of us.

Ken was a brilliant real estate and business lawyer with a strong commitment to public service. He was a leader in the citizen campaigns to adopt laws requiring land use planning, lobbyist registration and campaign finance disclosure.  He was instrumental in establishing the Boise greenbelt pathway system and protecting large areas of wildlife habitat and watersheds in the Boise foothills. He was part of the small group who founded the Idaho Conservation League.  He was instrumental in bringing soccer into the mainstream of youth sports in this state. He was smart and funny and always a pleasure to be around.

The Firm mourns his passing.
